6 Easy DIY Home Decor Projects for People Who Suck at DIY
Ok, so I really, really wish that I was totally awesome at DIY projects. But if I'm being honest, I'm pretty darn fair at them. I can do a kind of OK job with a DIY project if it's:
- super easy
- I mean, like REALLY super easy
- Potentially doable for anyone with a pulse who isn't blind or hearing voices in their heads
- could be completed by a 4-year-old
If you're in the remedial DIY club along with my ass, here are some fab home decor projects that won't leave you crying in a puddle in the middle of your living room floor.
1. DIP DYE TASSEL NAPKIN RINGS DIY
Basically you buy some tassels, buy some dye, dip the tassels in a friggin bowl, and voila: bohemian chic napkin rings. You're a fucking DIY genius.
2. MODGE PODGE IKEA STORAGE BINS DIY
These cool storage bins feature imagery from a children's book. No children's books laying around? NO PROBLEM. You can use magazines, adult books, adult books about children's books, or whatever you want. Find some cool pics, cut them out the size of the boxes, and then buy some of that magic Modge Podge stuff from Michael's that allows you to glue/attach your pretty pictures to your cheapo storage bins. BAM! Someone's closet just got an upgrade!
3. ROPE CURTAIN RINGS DIY
Calling this a DIY project is kind of embarrassing, but whatever: I'm just going to own it. FIRST: Buy some rope. THENNNN: Cut that shit up. AND THENNNNN: string it through some curtains. YOU. CANNOT. BE. STOPPED. http://www.remodelista.com/posts/diy-rope-as-curtain-attachment
4. STRIPED GOLD VASE DIY
For this one you need: masking tape, gold spraypaint and a vase. OR if you're lazy like I am, you can just get yo-self some colored electrical tape or and skip the whole spray painting thing altogether. Basically, you're just wrapping a vase with tape. If your arms are not broken or amputated, this is a project you can do. I believe in you.
5. WASHI TAPE PICTURE FRAMES DIY
[THIS SPACE WAS INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK]
If you can't figure this one out, I mean...
6. SPRAY PAINTED FOLDING CHAIRS DIY
So if you weren't a lazy slob up above and actually purchased some spray paint to make your gold vase, then now you can use it on some chairs! Buy some other fancy colors and you can have a whole rainbow set. I really do like this project though, because the color of these folding chairs normally makes me want to set my hair on fire or pop some anti-depressants. They're just so blah. BUT NOT ANYMORE, BITCHEZ!
